TED University’s English Language Education (ELT) Program has a contemporary and dynamic structure that aims to train well-equipped English language teachers at both national and international levels. The program is carried out by a strong academic staff with education and research experience both in Türkiye and abroad, as well as international publications. The educational process is structured with a student-centered approach that supports active student participation.
TEDU ELT students become part of a learning environment that goes beyond the classroom. Through student clubs like the TEDU Language Society, they take active roles in social and academic events. Additionally, as part of the regularly organized TEDU Research Seminars, academics from different universities are invited to deliver talks on current research. These seminars, open to all faculty members and students, contribute to both academic and professional development.
The program prioritizes preparing students for the teaching profession through practical experience. Starting in the first year with the school observation course, students are introduced to classroom environments early on, and in the fourth year, they actively participate in teaching processes through internships. Thanks to the Ambassador Project, conducted in cooperation with TED Schools in various cities across Türkiye, students gain valuable teaching experience. Moreover, students are trained in the use of digital tools and technology-integrated lesson design to prepare them for today’s classrooms.
In addition to core subject courses, our ELT program offers a variety of foundational courses and elective courses aligned with students’ interests and strengths. With the second foreign language courses provided in the department, students are also offered opportunities to develop themselves both personally and professionally.
National and international projects carried out in the department provide a valuable foundation that nurtures a research culture and contributes to scientific collaboration. Through the projects they develop based on their own interests, students gain experience in research processes and have the chance to improve their academic skills such as presenting and reporting. With the academic support offered throughout undergraduate education, students gain competence in research methods and academic writing.
The wide variety of courses in TED University’s English Language Education Program allows students to explore the relationships between different fields, giving them the opportunity to diversify and expand their goals. Furthermore, our program strengthens its teacher training mission not only with a local focus but also with global aspirations.
Our students have the opportunity to participate in the ERASMUS program at partner universities in many European countries. The Faculty's International Collaborations Committee continues its efforts intensively to increase the number of partnerships and provide more international experience for our students.
The academic journey in English Language Education continues beyond undergraduate studies at TED University. The Master's Program in English Language Education enables teacher candidates and professionals seeking specialization to deepen their knowledge of language teaching theories and methods. The Doctoral Program in English Language Education aims to train researchers who can make original contributions to the field.
Beyond academic careers, the TEDU English Language Education Program also offers career opportunities in areas such as instructional materials development, educational consultancy, and policy-making.
By offering its students a strong academic foundation, rich practical experiences, and opportunities for holistic development, the TEDU English Language Education Program prepares them for a successful future both in the field of education and in academia.
