Abstract
Since 1997, a number of education reforms have taken place in Turkish education. In this talk I will focus on the recent education reform, known as 4+4+4, and discuss its effects on teaching English to young learners, particularly at the practice level. I will present some research studies from Turkey to demonstrate how young learner English teachers have made adjustments in their teaching practices to teach younger ages, and share some good classroom practices from young learner teachers of English to show how a balance between policy and practice can be achieved.
