One of the faculty members at the department of English Language Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pelin Irgin’s article, entitled “English as a lingua franca: From classroom to out-of-class communication”, has been published in “Focus on ELT Journal”, the second issue of 2020. The particular results of the study indicate that the ELF-oriented practices motivated learners and raised EFL learners’ awareness and perceptions towards cultural and linguistic diversities. Also, EFL learners appeared to show new insights on intelligibility in communication and willingness to employ communication strategies such as negotiation for meaning, use of non-verbal communication, in order to enhance their intercultural communicative competence.
