The TED Ambassadors project, conducted since 2019 in collaboration between TED University’s Faculty of Education and the Turkish Education Association, continues to broaden the horizons of prospective teachers with growing interest each year. This project, which greatly contributes to the professional and personal development of the university’s senior students from the Faculty of Education, offers future educators a unique experience.
As part of the project, senior students from TED University’s Faculty of Education who meet certain criteria earn the opportunity to participate in a three-day internship experience at TED Schools across Turkey. This intensive program provides an unparalleled opportunity for students to experience the teaching profession in a real-world setting.
During the internship, prospective teachers engage in a variety of activities, such as observing classrooms of different age groups, delivering lessons, attending departmental meetings, reviewing textbooks, exchanging ideas with teachers, and interacting with students. These activities enable students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice while gaining valuable new experiences.
Initially launched exclusively for students of the English Language Teaching department, the project has expanded over time to include all departments within the Faculty of Education due to its immense popularity. To date, 160 students from five different departments have participated in the project at 16 different TED Schools.
TED Ambassadors serves as a platform that not only allows prospective teachers to gain a closer understanding of the teaching profession but also boosts their confidence, enhances their communication skills, and broadens their educational vision. Through this project, TED University continues to contribute to both its students and the country’s education system.
Feedback from experienced mentor teachers at TED Schools highlights that the TED Ambassadors project stands out as one of the finest examples of TED University’s innovative and hands-on approach to education.
