Students’ Views on TED Ambassadors Project!

Tarih:  Date

A pilot implementation of TED Ambassadors Project aiming to take the English teaching into a different dimension in the university-school partnership between TED Foreign Languages Department Headquarters and TED University, being first in Turkey and being specific to TED Institutions took place in 2019-2020 Fall. A meeting was held to introduce TED Ambassadors Project and to get the opinions of the students participating in the project about their experiences. Our graduate students attended the meeting organized by Prof. Dr. Belgin Aydın, the head of the department, together with Beril Yücel, the head of TED Headquarters Foreign Languages, and expert Jason Price. The project participants stated that in 6 different TED schools they visited, they experienced the school environment from different perspectives. Besides having the opportunity to put into practice the information they learned during their university education, they could also observe how this information was applied in the real environment. They also stated that the project contributed mainly to problem-solving skills in terms of teacher-parent relationships and reaching students with special needs. The fact that some of our graduate students started to work as teachers in schools by receiving job offers from the schools they visited as students can be presented as an accurate indicator of the positive outcomes of the project within the scope of the project.
