The project in which Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ufuk Balaman is involved as a researcher has been awarded funding under the German DFG Scientific Networks call. The project, titled “Uncooperativeness and Second Language Acquisition: Conversation Analytic Perspectives,” will be coordinated by the Universities of Mannheim and Bielefeld. As part of this project, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ufuk Balaman will conduct research over a period of 4 years together with a team of 20 researchers from 9 different countries.

In an event organized by the TEDU LS Society, students who had studied or interned abroad shared their international journeys with fellow TEDU students. The event, which drew great interest, was filled with inspiring stories and practical insights.
The first speaker, Defne, shared her Erasmus exchange experience at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iaşi, Romania, offering a glimpse into student life and academic culture there.
Under the leadership of Assistant Professors Elif Burhan Horasanlı and Semih Ekin from the Department of English Language Education, Deniz Ortaçtepe Hart was invited to our department on May 9, 2024, as part of the TEDU ELT Seminars series. Deniz Ortaçtepe Hart delivered a talk titled “Moving Beyond a Tourist/Consumerist Approach to Inclusive Education” to our undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty members of the department.
On May 8, 2025, the “Future Educators: Career Planning and Professional Development” event, organized by TED University LS Society, was successfully held at the Ahmet Ersan Conference Hall. The event aimed to provide prospective teachers with valuable insights into career opportunities and professional development in the field of education.
Throughout the program, experts from various sectors shared inspiring presentations on career planning, academic applications, and international experiences with teacher candidates.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ufuk Balaman's article titled “A Longitudinal Case Study of L2 Interactional Competence Development in the ELT Classroom: Teachability and Learnability of L2 Interactional Practices” has been published in the journal International Journal of Applied Linguistics, which is indexed in the SSCI-Q1 category.
