Prof. Dr. Belgin AYDIN, Head of Department of English Language Teaching, participated at the symposium “EDUCATION IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE SYMPOSIUM AFTER PREPARATORY CLASS IN TEACHING LANGUAGE INSTITUTIONS IN ENGLISH”, organized by Beykent University on 19 June 2019 as a guest speaker. The symposium combining academy and business world focused on the importance of foreign language skills necessary for both students’ education and business life.

TED University’s Faculty of Education faculty member Dr. Melike Ünal Gezer attended ILTERG (International Language Teacher Education Conference, in the scope of Erasmus+) held in Antalya, Belek on April 8-10 2019 and presented a paper entitled “Linguistic Landscapes: A Way to Increase Sociolinguistic Awareness of Pre-service EFL Teachers”.

Dr. Pelin Irgin visited Faruk Nafiz Çamlıbel Anatolian High School and shared her experiences on “Listening Strategies Instruction” with the high school students and English teachers. The students will visit TED University and English Language Teachin Teaching Program to have more insight about the education at TEDU.

TED University’s Faculty of Education faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Ünal Gezer attended LIF- Language in Focus- 2019 Conference held in Dubrovnik, Croatia on May 2-4 2019 and presented a paper entitled “Turkey’s EFL Curriculum and Textbooks: A Look into Early Written Literacy Tasks in Primary Level”.

TED University Faculty of Education faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Ünal Gezer met with in-service English language teachers working at pre-school and primary education at TED Antalya College and offered an in-service professional development seminar on “Sound Sense: Phonics and Phonological Awareness”.

As part of an innovative pedagogy, volunteering 3rd year student ELT teachers registered for the “Technology Enhanced Language Learning” course at TEDU and students registered for the “Computer-Assisted Language Learning” module in the MA Applied Linguistics and TESOL degree at Newcastle University started to collaboratively work to complete 3 different tasks in Virtual Exchange setting using different online tools. This telecollaborative exchange provides the student ELT teachers with an opportunity for experiential learning in which they experience telecollaboration as a partic

Within the scope of the practicum course ELE 404-Practice II in schools, senior students at the Department of Foreign Language Education find the chance to improve their professional skills with the support of practicum teachers in the schools. Before starting their careers very soon, they are participating in the teaching practices at the schools which have intensive English language courses in their curriculums.

Dr. Pelin Irgin visited Atatürk Primary School in Ankara-Etimesgut in 9^th of April, 2019, and presented her recent research titled “Awareness-raising Activity Design in Listening for Young L2 Learners”. She continues her academic support and cooperation with the teachers of English at Atatürk Primary School on developing L2 listening comprehension of 2^nd,3^rd, and 4^th grades, and designing awareness-raising activities in L2 listening.
