On April 15, 2020, Işıl Boy Ergül participated as a guest lecturer in ELE 302 Technology Oriented Language Learning course, conducted by Prof. Dr. Belgin Aydın and Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Bilki. Ergül, a graduate of the English Language Teaching Department and specialized in the field of Educational Technologies and conducted with the Zoom platform, has contributed to our students’ vision by sharing her personal experiences, problems in distance education and entrepreneurship journey.
Dr. Sinem Sonsaat Hegelheimer will present her article titled "Native and Nonnative Teachers of L2 Pronunciation: Effects on Learner Performance" at TESOL Webinar with co-authors; John Levis, Stephanie Link and Taylor Anne Barriuso. The article is also one of the most downloaded articles of TESOL Quarterly journal in the last few years. In 2019 three of our faculty's undergraduate programs, Early Childhood Education Department, Department of Elementary Education and Guidance and Psychological Counseling Programs, were accredited by EPDAD, an accreditation institution for the faculties of education. The Department of English Language Teaching, the students of which graduated from in the 2018-2019 academic year, also applied to EPDAD for accreditation. The evaluation studies are expected to be completed in the 2020-2021 academic year.
Juniors majoring at English Language Teaching Program designed and presented phonics- based materials that aim to improve early literacy knowledge and skills development of young language learners.
On Friday, December 20, 2019, the famous author Faruk Duman made an interview with TED University students on “Reading Classics”. The interview, moderated by Assoc. Dr. Feyza Doyran, shed light on the prospective teachers of the Faculty of Education to help them develop their students both in their personal development and in their teaching lives. With the students' active participation, questions and comments during the interview, the desire to read classics aroused in all participants.
