The 2020-2021 academic year of English education program of the Full Support Scholarship Program, carried out by the Turkish Education Association (TED), started with the first Atatürk-themed online courses on 10 November. In the program, which will be carried out online in the fall due to the pandemic, 9th, 10th and 11th grade students studying at high schools in Ankara, Kayseri, İzmir, Malatya and Diyarbakır have had the opportunity to come together in English lessons coordinated by the Department of TEDU English Language Teaching.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Melike Ünal Gezer has contributed to the edited volume entitled World Englishes and Culture in English as a Foreign Language Education with her book chapter entitled An Examination of Cultural Elements in Literary Works, Movies, TV Programs and Advertisements.
TEDU ELE Department Research Assistant Mehmet SAK’s single-authored article entitled “The Role of Ideal L2 Self in Predicting L2 Willingness to Communicate Inside and Outside the Classroom” has been published in the latest volume of Eurasian Journal of Applied Linguistics, an ESCI-indexed journal. On September 30, 2020, we organized an online welcome meeting to our new coming first-year students. The students had the chance not only to know each other but also meet the academic staff who will be offering lecturers to them.

In the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, 26 candidates applied for Master of Arts Program in English Language Education with/without Thesis which we will start for the first time, and written and oral exams were held and the first students were accepted to the program.
